This week I'm hanging a major one person show of my artwork at Church of the Servant (3835 Burton SE, Grand Rapids, MI) I'll post pictures here when it's up. The ARTery is a long hallway, and I intend to fill it to the brim and I hope to not bring all of it home. There will be a price list in the office or available through me and the work will be very affordable.
In November and December, I'll be showing some of my Advent work at Bella Vista Church in Rockford and at Forest Hills Presbyterian Church. ( You can also see my whole body of Advent work here.
And finally, November 8 I will be joining with other artists for a one day show and sale. It should be a wonderful pre-Christmas opportunity to see and buy unique handmade work.
This is an experiment joining the merry band of art bloggers on the web, a global version of show and tell!

GRID VARIATIONS
This is new work. The first of 2009 and the first from my little studio annex.
These are 9"x9" and mixed media- mostly painted tissue paper collaged and combined with paint and colored pencil.

BAPTISM 2

This piece is hot off the presses. It's pastel and oil pastel on gray paper. I think it will fit well into the Children of the Covenant show we're having in the ARTery at Church of the Servant during Advent.

Reception in Lowell on Saturday, July 19, 5-7
I was honored to have a nice article written about my show at the Lowell Chamber of Commerce by Emma Palova of the Lowell Ledger. I've tried uploading this article six different ways for it to be readable, but you get the idea. If you'd really like to read it, click on the image and it will open readable in a new window.Emma took the photo too. I thought she did a great job!
There's going to be a little reception for my show at the Lowell Chamber of Commerce
on Saturday,
July 19, from 5-7.
The show isn't large (18 pieces) but the venue is lovely- right across from the showboat on the beautiful Flat River, behind the Flat River Grill. The Chamber is at 113 Riverwalk Plaza in Lowell. (To get there- M-21 turns into Lowell's Main Street and just over the bridge past the Flat River Grill you can turn left on Washington and another left right away into the parking lot behind the chamber.)
It should be a nice time to visit and share some wine and snacks on a summer evening on the river. Lowell's also a lovely place for a stroll. If you've never been to the Fire and Water ART Showroom at 219 West Main where I am among a stellar collection of 25 artists gathered by 'local art guru' Kathleen Mooney, you could see more of my work there. The showroom is open until 6 on Saturday, so you could get two art experiences for the price of one!

DAWN OVER 96
This painting was also recently revisited, reworked and framed. I'll be hanging this at the Lowell Chamber of Commerce building at 113 Riverwalk Plaza (across from the showboat). The show will feature 10-13 of my acrylic paintings and my dancer photos. It runs June 15- September 5. The title is appropriate for this venue because 96 runs right past Lowell. This painting is 30"x40".Lowell is a great little town! and the Chamber is just a short walk down the street from Fire and Water ART! at 219 West Main where I'm honored to be among 25 talented artists who have their work on display.

AUGUST SUNFLOWERS

I spent many hours on this at the Fire and Water Showroom between customers. I think I've refined it as far as it wants to go! It's an amalgam of pictures I took and experiences I've had in Northern Michigan. It's 30"x40". It's fun to work that large. It will be included in the solo exhibit I'm having in the St. Mary's Health Care lobby in January.

First prize
This painting won a first prize (cash award) yesterday in the People's Choice awards at Bishop Hills Retirement Community. Our Rivertown Artist Guild has a show there every fall and the staff and residents vote on their favorites. I won 3rd last year and 2nd the year before that! I saved this particular painting for that show because I knew it was a crowd pleaser. I like it too. Next stop for it is the lobby of St Mary's Health Care in January. Those folks have pretty good taste! It means a lot to me. This painting didn't make it into the 2007 Festival show in GR so you just never know!

LITTLE LANDSCAPES
I've given myself a 'painting vacation' from the fabric work and I am enjoying it immensely. These are a couple of the little 6x6 paintings I've done recently. These are pieces that I'm keeping for myself. I've sold 3 in the last week at Fire and Water. Also in the pipeline are some larger paintings of a field in Lowell off Alden Nash Road which I'll post as they get finished. I'm supposed to be painting today but I'm fighting bronchitis and it's left me pretty wiped out.

featured artist at Fire and Water

I have the honor of being the featured artist at the Fire and Water ART Showroom (219 West Main in Lowell, Michigan) for November. Come in and see my work this month (and every month) at this fabulous art showroom!
These are a couple of the mixed media pieces I have on display. I work in a wide range of styles and I enjoy the variety. Some may think my work lacks a single focus, but I like the freedom to experiment! I don't want my work to be confined to one genre or media. There are too many wonderful things to play with in the art world these days!

Jetson's Library
This morning I hung 51 pieces of art at the Wyoming (MI) Public Library AKA the Jetson's Library- you see why it's nicknamed that! It's a wild design and there's a huge gallery space as part of it. Dee Versluis, Mary Andersen, Sue Bukrey and my darlin' Fred helped me hang the show.
