Virginia Wieringa

Mixed media on paper

The colors of the rainbow of God’s promise to Noah and his children form the foundation of this piece. The grid of organization and predictability dissolves into individual cross shapes that tumble through space. Along with the labyrinth, they suggest that we are each are traveling our own mysterious path of faith in the light of God’s love.

This piece was presented to Naji Umran and his wife Anne Zaki to celebrate them and their 6 years of service to Church of the Servant CRC. They have been wonderful and inspiring members of our church family. They will be traveling to British Columbia and starting work there in a church plant.

A small collage probably 12x18

This piece is SHORE STATION. Done yesterday and I really like it.

Here's the mystery. I sprayed it with a satin varnish outside and laid it on the trunk of the car in the garage and closed the door. That's the last time I saw it. I've been through the house, car, garage and surrounding area with a fine tooth comb. I even picked up my studio. It's no where to be found. It was too heavy to blow away. I'm starting to view this humorously. I'm becoming such a good artist that my work grows legs and finds its own home!

At least I got a decent photo! I'll make a photocopy and see if I can recreate it. Some of the tissue is unique but I'll see what I have left!

Theses are 12" gallery wrapped canvas also at Fire and Water ART in Lowell. The photos are blurry, not the paintings. I photographed them quickly so that I could get them up on the wall.

Diane Walker

Diane Walker is a writer and photographer whose work I have long admired on the Image and Spirit blog. Here's a link to her posts. The top entry, her poem "Flavoring Eternity" is one that I keep revisiting.

Not great photos, but these 4 are a series of 6 inch square lakescapes on gallery wrapped canvas. I finished them yesterday at Fire and Water ART.

This is the second in a series of compositions with music, architectural references and positive and negative circles.

This looks good in both directions, I think so any way. Any opinions? A friend recently named a piece "A Bridge of Sky"- great title. This has a bridge feel to it so it's BLUE BRIDGE.

how to finish

I may be the Queen of Starts. Here's a piece that's waiting to be completed. I love the textures and the colors, but the composition needs to be pushed.

more red

I made more of the acrylic coated tissue using warm colors. I just love the process of applying it, but I wish I could remember to wear rubber gloves. My hands are a mess!
