MEDITATING ON THE LIGHT
Virginia Wieringa
MEDITATING ON THE LIGHT
Mixed media on paper
The colors of the rainbow of God’s promise to Noah and his children form the foundation of this piece. The grid of organization and predictability dissolves into individual cross shapes that tumble through space. Along with the labyrinth, they suggest that we are each are traveling our own mysterious path of faith in the light of God’s love.
This piece was presented to Naji Umran and his wife Anne Zaki to celebrate them and their 6 years of service to Church of the Servant CRC. They have been wonderful and inspiring members of our church family. They will be traveling to British Columbia and starting work there in a church plant.

mystery
Here's the mystery. I sprayed it with a satin varnish outside and laid it on the trunk of the car in the garage and closed the door. That's the last time I saw it. I've been through the house, car, garage and surrounding area with a fine tooth comb. I even picked up my studio. It's no where to be found. It was too heavy to blow away. I'm starting to view this humorously. I'm becoming such a good artist that my work grows legs and finds its own home!
At least I got a decent photo! I'll make a photocopy and see if I can recreate it. Some of the tissue is unique but I'll see what I have left!
