These two pieces were chosen to be in the Collage show at Lowell Arts which will run from mid September to mid October.

A Snap shot of Friends

This collage was done using photos cut from our 2012 church directory. My niece Sara and her daughter Lucy helped me on some of the arranging of pictures.

Our pastor, Jack Roeda, begins each sermon by addressing us as "Dear Friends of Jesus Christ".  It is amazing that Jesus calls us his friends and even calls us children of God!

I love the diversity of our congregation. I wanted to gather these photos together to provide a snapshot of us. A group this large is ever changing. Two members pictured have died since I began this project. Other people have joined the church but aren't pictured. This collage is simply a moment in time when this body of believers were Dear Friends of Jesus Christ together. The body of Christ includes all these faces and many, many more.

These two paintings are 16"x20 and 12" square respectively. It was fun trying to capture the reflections on the water.

 I love the work that Matt Harding is doing. I enjoy the view of cultures and people around the world.

2013 Church Seasons Calendar

These two pieces were chosen for inclusion in the Christian Seasons Calendar. This calendar isn't arranged by months, but rather by the liturgical seasons and each week has a listing of readings from the common  lectionary . Last year I was delighted to have two pieces chosen and this year I'm amazed to have two in again! This comes with pay and free calendars!

ISEA 2012

Lake, Shore and Sky 2

This piece was juried into the ISEA (International Society of Experimental Artists) annual show. This will take place in September in Boston. I've had pieces in 3 of the last 4 shows. This third acceptance earns me signature status in the ISEA!

This painting incorporates pictures of the patriarchs in my fathers' family. I used red spots to indicate the blood relation and also to make the painting a little less personal and more universal. Variations on the American flag design are also incorporated. The guys in the buggy are my great grandfather and his brother. They came from the Netherlands and started a cartage company in Chicago. The building was the offices. The company was Wieringa Brothers Cartage, but my dad and his brothers took over half and renamed it Columbia Cartage when the originators passed it on to them.

I made this piece for my daughter who lives in Colorado. She's going to hang it in her office. I embedded maps of places she's lived into the piece. It was fun to make something so personal ofr her. I resisted the impulse to put baby pictures into it too!

The new logo for the wonderful place I work out!

I dabble with graphic design and I love the variety of fonts available. I was honored to create a new logo for the women's workout place where I'm blessed to work out with a great group of women with the help of new owner and longtime manager Alex Cavasos! I've spent quite a bit of time fiddling with this and other aspects of the branding. Now back to painting!

I love playing with scraps of tissue paper! I paint them with acrylic paint and spray textures on them. Each stage is a joy, but seeing a finished piece is the most fun. This is 9" x 12" framed to 14" x 18".  $150.

Lake Shore and Sky 3 +2- The first pieces out of the studio in 2012 I love these colors and this theme, so I added some extra twists. Two more are in process.

Art accepted into the Celebration show at FUMC

Our Lady of the Rapids and Psalm 127- the Lord guards the city were both accepted in the First United Methodist Celebration show! The iconlike painting is 9x12 and the Psalm 127 is large with a white mat and a blue metal frame.

Psalm 131 revisited- twice

I just finished and framed these revisitations of the idea of Psalm 131. 131 b (top 2) is 10 1/2 x 8 framed. 131a (bottom 2) is 11x15 framed. I like the zen and calm quality of the composition and thought I would visit it a few more times.
