REFLECTIONS ON AN O'TOOLE

This is a little pastel from a few years ago, never framed (or rejected). The tulips are reflected against a painting by a dear friend who died about ten years ago.

I've been in touch with a few artists I respect around here and a couple were totally "not accepted" too. One had one piece accepted, one rejected in both shows and the joy of that is that you have to make three trips to each! Yikes!

On another note, I bought a ton of flowers and perrenials yesterday and planted them all in their spots in the garden. And today, lots of rain. Perfect! That's creative energy we'll enjoy all summer long.

Please do not let some opinions discourage you. It is part of the journey. Let it make you more determined to continue onward. Not scare you that you are doing something wrong. Unfortunately spending money is part of the artists plight and besides, can you imagine doing anything else?

Thanks for your encouraging words, Valerie. I'm not discouraged. Besides it's not an opinion when you're rejected...sorry, 'not accepted' into a show ~ there is no opinion. One of my contentions is that for the amount of money you pay, it would be nice to get some feedback other than a thumbs down. I offer this is more as a comment on the way things are. Many people don't realize this side of being an artist. I am blessed with many venues for my creative energy and there are lots of empty canvasses calling to me. I also have a wonderful fan club so I'm not creating this in isolation!!
