SHAPE JOURNEY #2 +3
These are tough to photograph because they have so much texture and sheen. They are the same composition rendered in different colors and orientations. They mirror each other.

Hi Virginia, this pair shows refreshing progress in the evolution of your abstracts. Your sacred-themed Artwork carries timely significance and sentiment, but I think the style needed a boost in a new direction, to be perfectly honest. As one who has watched your work develop for a couple of years now, my first response to these pieces is a feeling of relief that I don’t have to work so hard to decipher symbols. There’s a purity and directness I’m feeling without symbolic motifs in the way. The title is perfect because coincidentally, these pieces reveal that you are not finished your journey of growth and expression through Art…as a Christian yes, as that is so much a part of your life and definition, but these works show you still stretching out as an Artist. I think your creativity and deep faith push the best out of you, that these things enhance and feed off of each other, often melding together, but still grand as separate and pure things in their own right. P.S. Art requires faith even if you’re agnostic! Happy Trails to you!
I'd love to take credit for the 'refreshing progress', Nikki, but these were done in a workshop as part of an exercise in composition- so I didn't have my vocabulary of symbols to fall back on. I appreciate your perspective on this. These were fun and I find them pleasing too, but they don't feed me the way the 'sacred themed' pieces do. Art itself IS a sacred journey. Thanks for your friendship and comment.
