PEREK SHIRAH- SONGBIRDS

I think this is one of my favorite pieces of the recent mixed media work I've been doing. The colors and textures really speak to me. PEREK SHIRAH is a term I borrowed from Hebrew- it's a chapter of songs of the natural world testifying to the presence of God in creation.

We were at the GR Public Museum yesterday and I was really taken by the variety of birds displayed in the exhibits from back when museums collected and stuffed parts of the natural world for display!! There were birds I've never seen on the wing, so it was interesting to look closely at their miraculous plumage. Their songs are a mystery and an amazing part of creation too.
